Adolf Frohner

28/03 - 04/07/2010

Adolf Frohner (1934-2007) is one of the most important Austrian artists of the post-war generation. Along with Otto Muehl and Hermann Nitsch, he was one of the founders of Viennese Actionism. After the actions, installations and material pictures he made during the 1960s, he eventually found his way back to figurative drawing and painting. He was particularly well-known for his images of women that radically broke with conventional representations. The exhibition presents a cross section of his work that is now part of the Frohner Stiftung, much of which has never been seen before.
